Grade 6 Field Trip To "Community Cares" 2007

Grade 6 students from Ms. Zwolak's and Ms. Coombes' classes walked to Community Cares.

First, we saw all of the boxes that they had, which were filled with home supplies. There weren't that many boxes so we need to donate more or they will need to buy more boxes. Then we visited the office, the clothing room, the food room, and the Christmas toy room. At Christmas time, "Community Cares"encourages people to adopt a family in need. Last year, only 300 of the 2800 were adopted. Then we saw the room where they wash the clothes; 90% of the clothes that are donated go straight to the garbage because they are ripped, stained or don't have buttons or zippers. We learned that "Community Cares" tries to help a lot of families but they need more donations to be able to help them all.
