A Message From The
Principal.....
Alexandra is a place
where excellence thrives. We are the model for achieving
success together - with our major team players being our
teachers, support staff, students, school council, parents
and community.
Our academics are
second to none, with teams of teachers working together,
reading research and continually updating their teaching
strategies to ensure the success of our students.
I would challenge
anyone to find a school with more activities. Every day,
our teachers organize activities from chess club to basketball,
Easter egg decorating to gymnastics in order to enrich the
school experience for our children. Teachers, parents and
students work hard to ensure everyone's academic, social
and athletic goals are met.
Major contributors
to "Team Alexandra" include the School
Council (PTA), parents and the school community. Together,
you have organized many fundraising initiatives (chocolate
bars, magazines, cookie dough, etc.), community events (Alexandra
Extravaganza, Pasta Night, Meet the Teacher BBQ, Turkey
Trot, Ham Hustle). and charitable fundraising events (Toonies
for Autism, Community Care), raising money to support school
programming and instilling a sense of giving in our students.
Finally, I would
be remiss if I didn't mention the Bear Den initiative started
this year. Our school community has become even tighter
as we formed 6 cross graded Bear Dens and competed in fun
and exciting events for the Bear Den Championship Trophy.
This program further strengthened our student/class of the
week social skills program and has provided many exciting
intramural games, Deal or No Deal, The Great Pedometer Step-Off
and monthly Bear Den champions.
To our Grade 6 graduates
who are leaving us, I wish you continued successes as your
next chapter unfolds. I know that you will build on your
many interests and accomplishments that have been fostered
and developed here at Alexandra. Get actively involved at
your next school and carry with you the Alexandra Bear Spirit
as you set high expectations, work with new people and accept
new challenges.
I am privileged
to be your principal and proud to work alongside such wonderful
partners in education.
Ms. R. Lockyer
